Job Description

Objective
Cyber security engineering including monitoring, testing, reviews, audits and vulnerability assessments working at the two Galileo Control Centres in Fucino, Italy and Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany.

Tasks and Responsibilities
Reporting to Spaceopal’s Security and Accreditation Director (SAD), the Engineer will undertake tasks and duties as required to protect Galileo assets from security threats.
The Engineer will support GCC based real-time security monitoring activities in coordination with GSMC. Responsible for policies, mission level procedures and KPI analysis.
The Engineer will support evolution of ground assets used in the scope of security monitoring (e.g. SIEM, IDS, Firewalls etc.). He will participate to requirements, design, and test campaigns activities.
The Engineer will support independent vulnerability assessment and audit test campaigns, providing expert advice.
On request by the SAD, the Engineer will provide cyber security expertise during segment deployments or configuration changes implementation; he will assess quality of the security hardening provided by segments.
The Engineer will take part to security related boards, as security monitoring operator representative.

Qualifications and Experience
University degree or equivalent qualification in either physics, mathematics, electronic engineering, aerospace engineering or telecommunications engineering
Good knowledge of the Galileo System architecture
Have at least 5 years of work experience on Satellite and/or Ground Segment Operations preparation / engineering;
Have at least 3 years of demonstrable industry expertise of IT cyber security defence;
Valid Security clearance by their national security administration, minimum SC Cleared for UK.

Essential Skills
Have a thorough and practical understanding of good systems engineering processes;
Advanced understanding of computer security concepts at both technical and procedural level;
Have experience in security incident response and management;
Understanding of networking concepts and protocols such as IP, DNS, SNMP, MPLS, IPSEC etc.
Robust understanding of IT fundamentals across networking, system, and application layers;
Have a fluent knowledge of English. The Engineer must be able to understand and produce technical documents and presentations in English;
